Testimonials

It is always a great pleasure to receive a shining testimonial from our clients at the end of a job, some of which are totally unsolicited. Here are a few samples that we would like to share with you.

Serendipitous

Finding Croft-Wootton was a serendipitous moment for us. Our architect had designed a simple home with high environmental impact and all it needed was someone to turn the dream into a reality. Roger met Nick Wootton at an environmental expo and invited him to come and discuss the possibility of his building our new home. He presented amazingly well being courteous, full of suggestions as to differing methods of achieving our objectives and, most important of all, attentive to our wishes since it would ultimately be our home and we had to be comfortable in it.

We have always believed that a company reflects the leadership, great staff come from the trickle-down effect of a great leader/owner. Throughout our lengthy build Nick’s entire workforce were pleasant, friendly, helpful and skilled at their tasks. We must single out our project manager, Matt, as being an amazing, caring, meticulous, patient guy. Heading the team on our job he went beyond the build to be available to drop in to attend to issues which arose with door locks, internet connections, TV signal reception, placing picture hooks in hard-to-reach places. Nothing is too much trouble; he will stay to finish a job and not just ‘down tools’ at knock-off time. His patience must have been at least frayed by us at times, but this never showed – he gave much and all he asked in return was a supply of espressos!

Builders and architects who visit our home spend lengthy periods wandering around and marvelling at the fittings, the neat abutments where timbers meet other materials and it is through their comments that we began to appreciate the sheer standard of our build. We live in 18-20 degree comfort whatever the weather thanks to the architect’s plans and Croft-Wootton’s construction.

How a builder handles the inevitable problems which dog all building projects separates the great builder from the plethora of good builders in the industry. We had a major revamp of our job when the government withdrew their approval of the SIPS building method for which the slab had already been poured. We were devastated to hear the company supplying the panels had closed and we were left with a vacant block and a slab of concrete. Nick explained that there were other ways to build with stud walls to achieve the same end result. It was his calm, measured, thoughtful approach which we appreciated in those fraught times. We now have a stunning home with a higher environmental rating than expected from the SIPS home of our initial design.

We are spreading Nick’s name among our coterie as someone who can be trusted implicitly and whose expertise is on daily display as we enjoy our new home plus note Croft-Wootton have been allocated at least two jobs working on heritage properties for the Mornington Peninsula Shire. So impressed were we with the entire team that we threw a party on site on completion so the team could wander through the completed house and enjoy our food and drink as a small measure of a huge THANK YOU to Nick and his amazing team.

A Very Big Thank You

Tina and I would just like to say how thrilled we are with the work carried out by you and your team during our recent renovation. From our perspective, it was all delivered on time and on budget and to a very high standard.

Every member of the team worked in a thoroughly professional manner, they were courteous at all times and went out of their way to reduce the impact on me, personally, as I both lived and worked on site for the duration of the project. It was such a pleasure having a group of people who were so meticulous in everything they did and who insisted on maintaining a clean and safe workplace at all times and who always finished each day with a sweep through and tidy up.

The attention to detail shown by both yourself and Matt in managing the project and the workplace was very much appreciated, as was the instant response to any issues I raised along the way. As a result, at the end of the project we can’t provide a defect list as there is simply nothing to add to it.

Everything from the tiling in the bathroom to the new lighting and electrics has been outstanding and every member of the team should be very proud of the contribution they have made. I would, however, like to pick out two members of your team in particular, without whom this simply would not have been possible. Both Matt and Adam have worked tirelessly throughout the project and, although a lot of their work isn’t physically visible on the surface, the overall quality achieved in the end result is down to their meticulous preparation and exacting standards. They have both been exceptional and an absolute pleasure to work with.

Nick, we both just want to say a very, very big thank you to you and your entire team for delivering such a high quality result that now enables us to call our house our home. We would not hesitate for one second to recommend you to any prospective client as we know they would be forever grateful that we did.

A New Passive House

After several years of design changes and mindless bureaucratic legalities, it was finally time to choose a builder.   I picked Nick Wootton of Croft Wootton Constructions to build my proposed new passive solar house at Somers on the Mornington Peninsula.

The whole project was a steep learning curve for all of us and as an extremely busy single woman in her 70s it wasn’t easy to tackle such a gigantic project.  But Nick and his calm, pleasant, polite and always clean and tidy team were consistently helpful and ready with suggestions and solutions – which took much of the stress away.

As with every building project, of course there were changes to the plans, hiccups, endless decisions to make, disappointments and hold-ups, but in the end Nick and his talented team of builders provided me with a fabulous high quality, solid ‘green’ home that I am extremely happy with.

A recent high scoring blower-door test shows the house has been built well and is extremely ‘tight’.

If you are after a passive solar green house that requires no heating or cooling (or any house for that matter although in this day and age all dwellings should be passive solar) I would strongly recommend Nick Wootton and his team.

Renovation with Big Views

Working with Croft Wootton construction was truly a pleasure.  They recently completed a magnificent renovation for us in Mt Martha, whilst we were both working full time in Melbourne.

As busy professionals we did not have much time to be down there during the weekdays, however Nick and his team oversaw the project in a manner whereby we literally experienced no stress during the renovation.

This was a first for us, having had some extremely stressful renovations in the past up in Melbourne.  With Nick and his team, the level of communication was excellent.  The website for tracking the entire project from start to finish was user friendly
and comprehensive.

Nick is truly professional,  with excellent ideas,  meticulous, and diligent,  trustworthy – a person with integrity.  Matt, the head carpenter was truly a joy to work with.  The entire team did the works to an exceptionally high standard, and that included building works, decking, electrics, tiling, painting the whole lot.

Nick also accommodated several changes of the plan by me, always with patience and good humor.

We are very happy with the end result and would wholeheartedly recommend Croft Wootton as being first rate, all around.

Growing family needing extra space

We are writing to thank you and your team for the wonderful job Croft Wootton Construction did building an extension to our house last year.

We have been living in the completed extension now for three months and we are delighted with the result. It has greatly improved our living space and the lives of all the members of our family.

We are particularly grateful for the time you spent with us at the beginning to develop the design. As you will recall we had many different ideas and believe that, with your help, we chose the best option for our budget.

We were also pleased that the build itself went smoothly and quicker than planned. Your team was extremely professional, organized and friendly. The website was a particularly useful tool for us to keep up to date with what was happening and to stay on top of day to day decision making. We are particularly grateful for your flexibility when we decided to add a number of other tasks to the project.

With the arrival of a new baby a couple of months into the project, it was not always easy living on a building site, but it was made much easier by your team’s consideration and communication, including keeping us informed about when to expect noise, dust and other disruptions. We really appreciated their patience and thoughtfulness.

The end result is better than we had ever imagined and everyone who visits comments on how well it matches the rest of the house. It has been built to the highest standards meeting the energy efficient requirements

We will be very pleased to recommend Croft Wootton Construction to our friends. Please also feel free to show this letter to any prospective clients.

Meeting a Deadline

I am pleased to provide this reference on the recently completed renovation and extension at Uplands Farm, with which we are delighted.

You were involved from the initial discussion on the project from mid 2011 and introduced us to Adam Doherty as the designer. Through the design process you were very helpful in providing early estimates of costs and refining this as we explored design options. The final quotation was detailed and you spend much time explaining the building contract and process.

The building commenced in April 2012 and was complete in December 2012 in line with the original time plan, allowing for some amendments to the plan as we progressed. We are grateful for the extra effort put in to complete the project in time for the Christmas deadline.

We were kept fully informed of progress on the build, with plenty of notice on decisions required from us, and a very collaborative approach to the variations we requested. We found you and the team on site extremely responsive and always a pleasure to deal with.

The site was kept tidy and every effort was made to preserve the surrounding garden for which we are grateful.

We are delighted with the quality and workmanship of the build at every stage, which is much commented upon by visitors. High quality materials and attention to detail in the finishing are evident throughout the project.

We would certainty recommend you to others, indeed we already have!

Award Winning Renovation

Our House designer Adam Doherty highly recommended your company to us; having previously worked with him before on our last property we were grateful for his endorsement.

Right from the first few introductory meetings we felt comfortable working with you. This included viewing recent projects you had completed including your own home. The quotation was detailed and you spent much time discussing the building contract and explaining the process.

Our renovation started on time, worked like clockwork to your schedule and was completed ahead of time. Nick it was a real pleasure working with you but more importantly your team were always polite, friendly and the site was kept tidy. We enjoyed your good nature and professional approach to all aspects of the project.

Undertaking a full renovation project can be quite daunting and you made sure we were involved with the decision making throughout and we were satisfied with every stage of the building works.

We found it easy to communicate directly via mobile phone or email which at all times was followed up with comprehensive summaries. We had regular site meetings before and after hours to finalize any challenges that arose in the rebuilding process. All of which resulted in completion to our satisfaction.

We were particularly grateful to you Nick for even supplying the cardboard packing boxes for our house move. This was typical of your friendly attitude and responsiveness in all situations.

Daniela, our three daughters and I are extremely happy with our beautiful new home. The high quality of workmanship was also noted by our friends and family and we are more than happy to recommend your company to others who may be interested.
